Susan LeVan holds an M.F.A. in printmaking from the Cranbrook Academy of Art. Since 1993 she has been a partner in the Boston-based LeVan/Barbee Studio, which produces computer-generated images for commercial and fine-art markets. The studio produces its work on a Macintosh computer using a pressure-sensitive graphics tablet and Fractal Design Painter, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and QuarkXPress. LeVan/Barbee images have been exhibited in museums and galleries throughout the United States, including the School of Visual Arts Museum (New York), the DeCordova Museum (Lincoln, Massachusetts), the Yosemite Museum (California), the Boston Center for the Arts, the University of Massachusetts Medical Center (Worcester), and the Cranbrook Academy of Art Museum (Bloomfield Hills, Michigan). LeVan's artwork has appeared in Business Week, Atlantic Monthly, the Boston Globe, the Chicago Tribune, MacWorld, Inc. magazine, and Byte magazine, among other publications. The studio has also worked for AT&T and created award-winning computer and video images for Interactive Nova: Earth, a television program produced by the WGBH Educational Foundation.
